The new Railway Computer RSL Compact 8 was systematically developed for rolling stock applications. For the GBit-x coded LAN interface and the power supply, Syslogic chose threaded M12 connector plugs.
The Railway Computer RSL Compact 8 was developed for use in trains. The equipment features a sturdy construction and a high-performing processor. The Railway Computer RSL Compact 8 is used as a data logger, digital video recorder (DVR) or as a control computer.
Certified for rolling stock applications (EN50155, Class TX)
The new Railway Computer RSL Compact 8 was systematically developed for rolling stock applications. Correspondingly, it doesn’t need cables and has no moving parts. For the GBit-x coded LAN interface and the power supply, Syslogic chose threaded M12 connector plugs. These guarantee high functional safety even under constant vibration or strong impacts. As with all the embedded computers in the Syslogic railway portfolio, the new Railway Computer RSL Compact 8 is certified according to the railway standard EN50155, Class TX. The railway computer is also set up for expanded temperature ranges of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius at the components level.
The railway computer has passed shock and vibration tests according to EN61373 and complies with fire protection standard EN45545. The equipment is also set up for in-feed voltage of 16.8 to 45 volts. Thanks to its systematic construction and ingenious test algorithm, the railway computer Compact 8 provides a high degree of functional safety, which is essential in the railway branch.
Versatile interfaces guarantee flexible connection
In addition to the GBit-LAN interfaces, the railway computer has DVI, USB, Ethernet and RS232 connections. For position determination and data transfer, the computer can be expanded with GPS and GSM/UMTS functions. Thanks to this versatile interface structure, the railway computers can be flexibly used.
Time-proven platform: Quad-core processors from Intel
Syslogic uses Atom E-3845 processors (BayTrail) from Intel for its new railway computers. This platform has already been used by Syslogic for other equipment. Raphael Binder, Product Manager for Syslogic says: "The processors are suitable for demanding industrial applications thanks to their low power use." Syslogic already has several hundred computers with the Atom E processor in the field, according to Binder.
Many years of railway experience and well-known customers
Syslogic has been supplying industrial computers to the railway market for more than twenty years. The company has been systematically expanding its portfolio of certified railway computers in recent years. Various new orders are an indication that their product strategy is paying off. Raphael Binder says: "We have just received an important contract from Stadler Rail." Stadler depends on Syslogic Computer for its RCU (Rail Communication Unit), according to Binder. This has led Syslogic to decide to continue expanding its market position in the railway market.
